Town of Ladysmith Bollards Survey for Downtown Businesses
The Town of Ladysmith is seeking input from the business community as it moves forward with the installation of nine bollards along 1st Avenue between High Street and Gatacre Street.
The previous Town council approved the safety improvements in May in response to a number of incidents more recently involving cars jumping the curb in angled parking spots.
Installation, however, was in part delayed due to the Sonic the Hedgehog movie shoot and the more recent Light Up celebration.
The bollards are intended to protect the safety of business owners and employees, pedestrians and motorists.  These aesthetically pleasing structures will match the historic character of the downtown and are designed to stop vehicles moving at upwards of 15 km/h.
Ladysmith’s new town council has instructed Town staff to provide information as available on the number of vehicles jumping the curb on 1st Avenue in the past four years, as well as review plans for the installation of some 160 bollards in angled parking spots.
In addition to consultation with the Ladysmith RCMP, the Town would appreciate hearing feedback from the business community on this matter.
The deadline for submissions is January 11th, 2019.
