The Annual Golf Classic, which is the marquee fundraising event for the Chamber is held each June and brings together close to 100 business and government leaders to golf, network, win prizes, bid on fabulous auction items and of course to have loads of fun.

Gordon Reid

Gordon Reid’s legacy is one of remarkable community service and dedication. His extensive volunteer work, spanning organizations like LRCA, Ladysmith Show & Shine, Ladysmith Days, Ladysmith Festival of Lights, and Citizens on Patrol, showcases a deep commitment to making a positive impact on Ladysmith and beyond.
Before he passed, Gordon Reid was the first site manager for the newly-constructed LRCA, Heart on the Hill independent living, 36-unit affordable housing project. Past site Manager, Rick Rake remembers Reid’s gentle soul, vast connections with the community, and pride in his new role during the early stages of the project.
The special award presented in his memory at the 2023 Show & Shine for the best open-top vehicle is a fitting tribute to Gord’s passion for community events and involvement. His role as a Chamber Member, entrepreneur painter through G.Reid Services, and his participation in Citizens on Patrol underscore his diverse contributions over the years.
Gord’s most recent role as a Shelter Outreach Worker through LRCA demonstrates his ongoing dedication to community welfare. His efforts to liaise with the Chamber and local businesses, offering support during challenging situations, and distributing Naloxone Kits exemplify his commitment to fostering a safer and more supportive environment for everyone.
Gordon’s surviving family members, including his wife Ann, children Nicole, Sean, Renee, grandchildren, and sisters Susan, Debra, and Ida, share in the remembrance of a beloved individual who made a positive impact on the community and the lives of those around him.
