Connect Hearing:  Can I wear only one hearing aid?  Hearing Care Professional Rachelle Vaughn of Connect Hearing Ladysmith has your answer: Each ear that has hearing loss needs to be clinically treated. When a person has hearing loss the brain misses auditory information and the areas of the brain responsible for understanding sounds begin to weaken.  This can affect how a person understands speech information. A hearing aid provides the auditory information the brain needs. Additionally, humans are designed to have two ears. Having two ears help us to locate where sounds are coming from as well as experiencing binaural summation, which is hearing a sound louder with two ears than with only one ear. To learn more, visit https://connecthearing.ca/hearing-aids-devices/one-or-two/ or call Rachelle at 250.245.8140.

A Christmas Story appears on The Chemainus Theatre Festival stage from November 18 to December 31. LaFF: At LaFF we believe it Takes a Community to Support a Family to Raise and Child and I’d like to invite you to be a part of the team of support.   Currently LaFF programming welcomes an average of 75 participants 5 mornings a week. Daily nutritional meals, play based learning opportunities, parenting support, free clothing exchange, access to resource providers and the opportunity for families to meet each other in a “community living room” environment has earned LaFF provincial recognition as being a Distinguished Family Resource Program”.  Another of LaFF’s strengths is in creating meaningful volunteer opportunities.  It is thanks to our dedicated volunteers that we can do what we do as a team to support children and families.

Breakfast with Santa:  Our goal is to bring the community together by sharing a meal, singing, doing crafts and of course visiting with Santa and having a family photo to take home at the end of the day. Each year we give away close to 200 of the 600 tickets to families who could use a helping hand.  We continue to offer these families ongoing support throughout the year by gifting them sponsored LaFF Passes. Please look at the form and consider sponsoring a family.sponsorship-bws

LaFF’s Silent Auction is wonderful opportunity to donate what you can and allow families to shop while supporting the program that supports them.  This is also a nice opportunity for you to be highlighted in the community as a supporter of children and families and LaFF Programming.  I would invite you to ask friends, colleagues and family members if they are able to support as well. silent-auction-letter-e-version-3
