Ladysmith Yacht Club
Founded in 1985, the Ladysmith Yacht Club has grown to nearly 200 members. While many moor at the Ladysmith Marina, the club welcomes boaters from across Vancouver Island, Mainland BC, Alberta, and beyond, with no residency requirements.
The club maintains an active social calendar with monthly events held at various venues, including group dinners at local restaurants, potlucks featuring guest speakers, and seasonal celebrations such as Robbie Burns Night and Saint Patrick’s Day. The annual Steak and Prawn Night remains a particular highlight.
Each year, the Sailpast at Transfer Beach features a parade of boats and salute to the Commodore, along with free community festivities including live music, food trucks, face painting, service club booths, and major door prizes.
Members also enjoy organized cruises and rendezvous—including a two-week Desolation Sound cruise planned for 2026—plus reciprocal moorage privileges with many yacht clubs throughout the region. Read more…
