Bio: Morgan Davis grew up in 1950s Detroit, immersed in early rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and the emerging Motown sound. In 1962, his family moved to California, where he finished high school and became active in the anti-war movement.
In 1968, Davis relocated to Toronto, Canada, and began a deep study of early country blues, learning from and performing alongside legends such as Sunnyland Slim, Johnny Shines, and Hubert Sumlin. Over his career, he has 1 opened for and backed blues icons including Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, Albert King, Dr. John, Eric Bibb, and John Hammond.
A master of electric, slide, and 3-string cigar-box guitar, Davis interprets the blues with respect for tradition while crafting contemporary compositions. Touring constantly across North America and Europe—often more than 200 dates a year—he earned a JUNO Award for Blues Album of the Year in 2004. In 2025, he celebrates 55 years on the road, still passionately performing the music he loves.
