Exciting News for Employers from WorkBC Cowichan

Hello Everyone,

I have been so excited to share with you some of the changes underway at WorkBC. It is my pleasure to let you know that the Ministry of Social Development & Poverty Reduction has increased accessibility to WorkBC’s Wage Subsidy Program.

We are no longer limited to offering subsidies only to folks who have an EI history, but can offer it to every unemployed citizen eligible to work in BC! This really widens the scope and will make it easier than ever for employers with full time job opportunities to take advantage of this excellent program.

Another fantastic change is the ability to use the subsidy to recall laid off employees!

An additional new aspect of the Wage Subsidy Program is that the subsidy amounts have changed, with larger subsidies available to priority groups; Youth 16-30 and Persons with Disabilities.

Take a look at the application guide here. It outlines employer criteria, provides details on the subsidy ranges, FAQ and application tips.

An excellent feature designed to streamline the process is the ability to apply online, using a candidate you’ve selected or requesting us to recommend someone for the position. See the application page here.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out!  And do please keep on sending me your job postings, we have a steady flow of talented job seekers working with us who are eager to get to work.

Sincerely,

Johnna Puusa
