Free. \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/87500062348 \nMeeting ID: 875 0006 2348 \nSince 1911\, the remains of the Robert Kerr have rested on a reef just north of Thetis Island’s Pilkey Point. Launched in 1866\, she roamed the world’s oceans. Damaged while being towed to Burrard Inlet\, she achieved fame as “the ship that saved Vancouver” during the 1886 fire that destroyed much of the new city. This is a story of a ship associated with people and events that helped shape Canada in the 19th century. David has worked with museums\, marine industry\, government and universities preparing and presenting a variety of interpretative programs about maritime history. For many years\, he worked in national parks and historic sites\, and he recently retired as the Nanaimo Museum’s curator. He is a past president of the Underwater Archaeological Society of BC and the current president of the Nanaimo Historical Society.

DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\nHelp raise some money for the arts\, enjoy a fashion show and bid on some fun previously loved clothing in our unique silent auction. Enjoy the muscial talents of Sarah Leo while you mingle and place your bids. Some refreshments will be provided. \n\n\n\n\n\n  \nEvent Details: \n\n7pm  – mingle and look at the previously loved but gently worn clothing that were donated by our members. Each clothing item will have a item number and a bag attached to the hanger. Write you name bidding number and best bid on a slip of paper and place your bid in the bag of the item you wish to bid on. When the auction closes the highest bid in each bag wins.\n8pm – Auction is closed and volunteers will start going through the bids. While this is going on\, enjoy a fashion show with outfits provided by The Top Drawer Consignment Store. All items in the fashion show are availale for sale at Top Drawer after the event.\nAfter the fashion show stay for some more music\, mingling and winning bid announcements.\nIf you win a bid\, collect your item and pay at the desk.  We accept credit cards\, cash\, debit\, and cheques.\nEvent ends between 9-9:30pm\n\n  \n  \nSponsored and supported by The Top Drawer Consignment Store. DESCRIPTION:Canada Day 2022 Celebrations\nLadysmith\, June 17\, 2022 – The Town of Ladysmith is pleased to return to our annual Canada Day celebrations at Transfer Beach Park following a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. \nOn Canada Day\, we come together to celebrate and shine a light on our country’s diversity\, inclusion and whatever it is that makes you proud! \nNew for 2022\, the festivities kick-off in the morning with a free pancake breakfast hosted by the Ladysmith Kinsmen Club. \nThe official ceremony begins at 11 am at the ampitheatre with the dignitaries welcome. \nThe Town is once again grateful to the Stz’uminus Young Wolves Dancers who will be performing as part of the event. \nSettle into your seats for live music starting at 11:30 am featuring Nate Harris followed by Robbie Hancock. \nAs part of the celebrations\, we will be offering cupcakes from the Old Town Bakery. \nIn addition to the celebrations\, the community is invited to tour the park as view some of the recent improvements. \nThe Spray Park was recently refurbished with a new rubber surface as part of a BC Tire Stewardship grant. \nThe Town also has completed work on the Transfer Beach public washroom and picnic shelter upgrades. \nWe acknowledge the financial support of the Government of Canada through the Department of Canadian Heritage. \nFor the latest news and updates\, visit the Town’s website at www.ladysmith.ca\, as well as Facebook\, Twitter and Instagram. \nYou can also receive up-to-date information in your email inbox by subscribing to the Town’s newsletter.
