DESCRIPTION:Rod run Friday Aug 20th. Rod Run is happening on Sixth Ave\, in front of the Frank Jameson Centre. Starts at 5pm with Doctors of Rock & Roll and hamburger bbq. Cars leave at 7 and proceed south on Sixth to Roberts … right on Roberts to Fourth and then north on Fourth to Symonds. Right on Symonds and then down the Hill to First (at round-a-bout) and then head south. The cars proceed all the way to Davis Rd. and then left onto Davis and down the hill to cross the hwy and proceed along Chemainus Rd all the way to Chemainus and then work their way back to the FJCC. Folks are encouraged to line the streets and cheer them on. It would be great to see lots and lots of folks along First Ave.\, (downtown) to give them all a big hand.

In this four-day art extravangaza\, you’ll get to dive in to Gelli plate printmaking in the mornings\, and then create functional ceramic art pieces in the afternoons.\nGelli plate printing is becoming more popular in the printmaking world as a fun way to explore layers and lots of color. This accessible form of printmaking uses a gelatin plate and stencils to create interesting shapes. Each day\, you can experiment with making different prints\, and in our final class\, we will create an accordion book to showcase the various skills you’ve learned. All materials included.\nIn the afternoons\, you’ll get to try your hand at handbuilding as you create a key/jewellery dish\, a mug\, and a planter. With each project\, you’ll get to experiment with adding texture and colour. On the fourth day\, you’ll have a chance to create a second version of your favourite project or finish up preparing your masterpieces for glazing and firing. Clay\, slip/underglaze\, glazing\, and firing included.\nWe will take a 60-minute lunch break between printmaking and clay work.
