The draft OCP lays out proposed policy initiatives for managing growth and change in a way that helps our community meet its goals\, including a section specific to implementation. \nThe Town is hosting a drop-in open house on Saturday\, November 5\, 2022 from 9am – 2pm at Aggie Hall where we are once again welcoming your input on the draft OCP prior to its final adoption by Ladysmith Council. \nThe Ladysmith Kinsmen Club will be hosting a free pancake breakfast for attendees on that day. We greatly appreciate their support in helping bring the community together for this important public engagement event. \nAdditionally\, a final survey is also now live for you to provide feedback. \nTell us how well you think some of the OCP’s big opportunities will help realize the vision and goals for Ladysmith. With the use of archival photos and artwork from private and museum collections\, Vancouver Island historian Catherine Gilbert will be delivering a pictorial presentation on Tuesday\, Nov 8\, 7pm as part of the Ladysmith & District Historical Society’s “Historically Speaking” series.\nGilbert\, author of Yorke Island and the Uncertain War\, Defending Canada’s Western Coast During World War II will answer the question about where Yorke Island is\, why its location was considered to be strategic in the 1930s and why it was significant to Canada’s World War II efforts.\nThe talk is free and presented via zoom.
