SUMMARY:Shoreline Champions Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Location: Transfer Beach Park \nParticipants will be registering for the cleanup through the Ocean Wise online portal which ensures that waiver forms are signed prior to the cleanup. We encourage all of our Shoreline Champions to adhere to the leave-no-trace guidelines at the event. We are also participating in a cleanup to ensure that we are helping to reduce pollution at the site location because we are a plastic reduction centered initiative so. We also provide guideline to our Champions to ensure the expectations. \nOcean Wise Shoreline Cleanup is an ocean and freshwater health initiative focused on reducing plastic pollution along our shorelines and in our waterways. We will be leading a team-building shoreline cleanup with DP World at the specified site\, where we are expecting 30 participants over the course of the 3 hour window. We will be providing all shoreline cleanup and safety equipment (buckets\, gloves\, first aid kit\, sharps container)\, providing guidelines on conduction a safe and fun shoreline cleanup\, and then supporting participants in actually conducting the cleanup itself. We will also be handling all waste disposal and enacting a leave-no-trace approach to the event.

DESCRIPTION:Chemainus Theatre Festival’s Gallery is proud to present select works of the ‘Group of Seven’ in a new exhibit. \nOn loan to the theatre by an anonymous collector\, this exhibition will showcase eleven works from the Group of Seven. In the early decades of the twentieth century\, circumstances brought together several artists who were committed to exploring\, through art\, the unique character of the Canadian landscape. Collectively they agreed: Canada’s rugged wilderness regions needed to be recorded in a distinctive painting style. This style would break from European tradition and reflect an increasingly nationalistic sentiment. Today\, these men are among Canada’s most famous artists. For many\, their works have come to symbolize what is the distinctly Canadian identity.Additional information will be sent to the Visitor Information Center to help staff answer questions or inquiries regarding your event.
