DESCRIPTION:Town hosting Dinner & Dialogue event as part of Poverty Reduction Strategy  \nLadysmith\, November 21 \, 2023 – The Town of Ladysmith is hosting a series of community Dinner & Dialogue events as part of the ongoing CommUNITY Together to End Poverty\nHw-nuts’-ulwum (As One) Poverty Reduction Strategy implementation. \nThe first of the four events organized by the Town’s Poverty Reduction Task Group of local agencies is scheduled for Thursday\, December 14 at 5:30 p.m. at Aggie Hall. \nLadysmith and Stz’uminus residents are invited to this free dinner to learn about the Town’s Poverty Reduction Strategy and continue the ongoing conversation on local solutions for improving affordability\, equity and inclusion. \n“It has been inspiring to see the Ladysmith and Stz’uminus communities come together to discuss\, better understand and ultimately work towards reducing poverty\,” said Poverty Reduction Task Group Council representative Tricia McKay. “If we keep coming together to fully understand these challenges and can agree on the best way forward\, then we can work through the obstacles to make a difference in the lives of those needing it the most.” \nThe Dinner & Dialogue events are a direct response to feedback from attendees at film and dialogue nights earlier in the year\, many of whom requested opportunities to take more local action. \nThe Town subsequently received a $49\,600 grant from the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) in July to carry forward the momentum of the Strategy implementation.
