Big Thinking for Small Business is here! The BC Chamber of Commerce has publicly released their three-part plan for economic recovery which was presented to government on July 21st, 2020. The Economic Recovery Submission is made up of 54 policy recommendations that focus on competitiveness, innovation, and inclusivity. Province-wide in scope, the plan aims to guide the Province on stimulating BC’s economy through measures that support small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The plan is made up of three pillars:
- Let’s Compete
A made-in-BC tax system that supports recovery & growth (and generates revenue for government), to investment in transportation, trade-enabling infrastructure, and resource projects, are all pivotal to support our economic foundation and to create a competitive and resilient future for our province.
- Let’s Innovate
Economic diversification is essential. Our approach to recovery needs to venture into forward-thinking opportunities – we need to focus on creating good jobs in every sector, explore opportunity in emerging economies, while also addressing issues related to climate change.
- Let’s Be Inclusive
Recovery must include systemic changes that advance economic reconciliation and create equitable opportunities for all British Columbians. We need to get back to work, rethink childcare, develop rural and remote economies, and improve accessibility.
Let’s act quickly and with smart policy! Read more about the Economic Recovery Submission here.
