WestJet launched in 1996 with three aircraft, five destinations and just over 200 dedicated folks dubbed WestJetters. For an airline that once declared it would never fly east of Winnipeg, it has experienced a great deal of growth.
The inaugural flight to Nanaimo on board a Bombardier Q400 Next-Generation Turbo Prop touched down at the Cassidy Airport on June 24, 2013. From that moment forward, WestJet has been a proud contributor on a community level while offering strong scheduling and connectivity with twice-daily non-stop flights to Calgary.
The passionate team of local WestJetters is proud of the many volunteer hours they provide each year to support local organizations. Beyond volunteering in person, WestJetters also support several local organizations each year by donating gift of flight through the Community Investment Program.
WestJet is committed to enriching the lives of everyone in its world, providing an exceptional guest experience and connecting guests to more than 90 destinations in North America, Central America, the Caribbean and Europe. Through its regional airline, WestJet Encore, and with partnerships with airlines representing every major region of the world, WestJet offers guests more than 120 destinations in more than 20 countries. On behalf of more than 10,000 WestJetters across the country, we would like to welcome you on board.
