A typical initial visit involves a health history and physical exam to diagnose the injury and develope a personalized treatment program.  Treatment involves working on injured and scarred muscles and ligaments as well as joint manipulation if necessary.  Both doctors are certified Active Release Technique® * providers and incorporate this as well as other research informed modalities into their treatments. A major aspect of treatment at ASC is a homework program of exercises to prevent reoccurrence and to promote strength and endurance of the stabilizing musculature.

*Active release techniques is a patented soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves.  Results vary from patient to patient.

The ASC Doctors

Dr. Chad Arsenault received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in June 2010. He graduated with Magna Cum Laude distinction and clinical honours. Dr. Arsenault majored in biology and minored in chemistry during his Bachelor of Science at the University of Prince Edward Island. Dr. Arsenault has recently submitted an original research abstract to the World Federation of Chiropractic biennial conference.

Dr. Arsenault was born and raised in Summerside, P.E.I.  and was heavily involved with hockey, rugby, and soccer throughout his childhood and teenage years.   He feels that it was his involvement in sport that promoted a healthy lifestyle and drove him toward the health care profession.  Fishing, hiking, running and any other excuse to enjoy the outdoors and wilderness are another of Dr. Arsenault’s passions.

Dr. Sara Burtinsky graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in June 2010 with a clinic honours distinction.  Prior to her schooling at chiropractic college she graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor of science degree in health fitness in preventative and rehabilitative programs where she was on a full scholarship for gymnastics.

Gymnastics was a vital part of Sara’s motivation in becoming a chiropractor as she experienced many injuries and hardships in her 18 year gymnastics career. She brings her years of experiences in high-level athletics as well as her involvement with Division I and National level team therapists to the office.
